Mindfulness is the aware, balanced acceptance of the present experience.
It isn’t more complicated than that.
It is opening to or receiving the present moment, pleasant or unpleasant, just as it is,
without either clinging to it or rejecting it.
Sylvia Boorstein

It’s really that simple.  It’s being aware of what you are doing at every moment.  Sounds easy enough.  But then…. how many of you have arrived at your job only to realize you don’t know how you got there?  or eaten a box of crackers only to wonder where they’d gone? (lol… okay so that happened to me last night).

So many of our moments, amazing moments, are missed because our minds are somewhere else.  Not that driving to work is all that fascinating, but, you miss out on the chance to get to know yourself a little better.  To appreciate each breath in and breath out.  To notice the obscure and invisible.

Why am I mentioning this?  because I think being ‘mindful’ is a key to happiness.  And, I think that in these challenges, it’s going to be very important that we be mindful.

So, how can you get more mindful?  (okay… who is scrolling to the end of the paragraph???)  🙂  We’ll start small…. when you wake up in the morning… before you get out of bed… before you hit the snooze button (okay, it’s annoying turn it off)… AFTER you hit the snooze button lay in bed and watch your breath.  Say to yourself, “I am breathing in”; “I am breathing out”.  One of my personal favorites, especially if I’m feeling a little anxious about something is to say “Breathe in self-love”; “Breath out self-doubt”.  And, that’s it.  I want you to be mindful of your breath for the 2 minutes before you fall back to sleep.  We will add to this, but, for right now… that is HOMEWORK. lol 🙂  where is my ruler??

Feel free to leave comments questions, etc.  This is a forum for all of us to learn and find a higher state of happiness and strength within ourselves.
